Where Have I Been?

Wow, it has been a long time since I posted anything here. I wish I could tell you exactly why, but the best explanation is that I think writing is a habit, and I just fell out of the habit. Plus, as I've explained in another post, I'm still not exactly sure what I want this blog to be. At first I thought it would be more of an information sharing portal between church musicians. But that avenue has either been completely shut down by COVID-19 or is at least closed for an undetermined amount of time. Then I thought that maybe this should be some sort of inspirational blog. But I wrestle with the notion that my daily life is sort of routine, and what is inspirational in that? I fully realize that I'm not looking closely enough at my daily life. There are all sorts of interesting things that occur daily that I just overlook.
So, with a promise to be more attentive and more communicative, I'm going to try and relaunch with writing what I want to. Sometimes it may relate to music. Sometimes it might be church-related. Or sometimes it may be the sort of random thoughts that zip through my mind - the ones that demand a little more unpacking later. If you find something worthwhile in all of that I will be grateful for the opportunity to have given you something of value. Feel free to share these posts, tell friends about them, send them to book publishers, or simply let them fade away peacefully in the ether of the internet.
And as a more direct answer to the question of "where have I been?", here are some highlights of things that have occurred in my two-month absence: My wife and I completely disassembled and then rebuilt a water feature in our yard (So. Many. Heavy. Rocks!). I had a close friend come down with COVID-19 which gave me a scare for a couple of days. I made a bucket-list trip across the United States with my two sons (LOTS of future posts about that), and appeared on a podcast. There's a lot that's going on, and I'll try to open a window to my mind and let you be a part of it.
As always, leave me a comment about what you like, what you don't like, what you'd like to see more of, and any suggestions you might have.
